Energy: Part 1
Energy Transfer
P4.1 EnergyTransfer
Moving objects and waves transfer energy from one location to another. They also transfer energy to objects during interactions (e.g., sunlight transfers energy to the ground when it warms the ground; sunlight also transfers energy from the Sun to the Earth). |
P4.1A
Account for and represent energy into and out of systems using energy transfer diagrams. P4.1B Explain instances of energy transfer by waves and objects in everyday activities (e.g., why the ground gets warm during the day, how you hear a distant sound, why it hurts when you are hit by a baseball). |
Pre-Test and DifferentiationPre-test data will be collected and used by the teacher to offer alternative projects to demonstrate mastery. You may also self select for an alternative assignment upon conferencing with your teacher. Please talk to your teacher if you have any questions.

Practice
1. Energy Transfer and Storage
(30-50 min)
Complete the module and take notes on big ideas, terms to know and diagrams in your lab notebook.
2. Energy Transfer and Storage Activity
(10-15 min)
You will need ear buds for this activity if you are at school. Complete the activity and take notes on the big ideas for at least 3 examples provided in your lab notebook. Now create 3 more of your own examples of heat transfer and storage in diagrams and arrows showing energy transfers as modeled in the practice.
3. Energy Transfer and Storage Assessment
(5 min)
Complete the open note assessment ONCE, print and turn into the class bin for a grade.
